Themes

I often use the process of creating an artist book to find out what I think and how I see the world.

Although I often work around the same themes, mainly on language, discourse, and how they shape our worldview, they remain difficult to illustrate or turn into a physical project, ie. an artist book.

As artists we may want to produce a creation that comes from the past, or is inspired by it, we may express the emotions from others, some notion of “people, “mine or yours” or reflect on experiences we may not have lived through or even people we have never met.

Do we keep to facts, “truths”, information, disinformation or even malformation to approach our subjects and recurrent themes? How do we choose to portray personal experiences of family members? Is this different from a project that does not include the personal and the emotive?

Here are four links to works and reflection regarding the themes I’m interested in. I hope you enjoy them and drop me a line or a comment – I’m always interested in your thoughts, ideas and emotions.
